If Lebanon cannot create budget surpluses, how can it pay back depositors, by increasing taxes on the same depositors and the already deeply impoverished population. Since the 2019 economic crisis, none of the government budgets has provided meaningful stimulus for social services, healthcare, education, and infrastructure spending, to stimulate the economy, spur economic growth, and reduce unemployment. How can the government keep on increasing taxes in an economic depression while inflation in US$ is at record highs and the majority of the population cannot afford basic necessities.
