Living in limbo, again

Dear readers,

This week, things have slowed down on the southern border, as negotiations are taking place to reach an unlikely cease-fire in Gaza.

And while Lebanese are holding their breath, waiting for a likely war, they are also living as best as they can. They are celebrating the Zambo carnival in Mina, Tripoli, they are enjoying the last days of snow in what turned out to be quite a decent ski season, they are breaking their fasts with their loved ones and the caretaker government met and finally decided, among other things, to allot $6 million to rehabilitate the Chekka freeway, six years ( !) after a landslide rendered part of the road inaccessible.

There is something weird about being in limbo. Things happen, and at the same time, they don’t.

We truly hope, dear readers, that this state of limbo will soon come to an end, and that peace will prevail. These days, staying optimistic feels like resistance, and this is how we choose to resist.
