BEIRUT — France and Germany have announced new COVID-19 entry restrictions for travelers arriving to the countries from Lebanon, while Lebanese authorities announced new measures at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport.

Here’s what we know:

    • Starting from Sunday, unvaccinated passengers arriving to German airports from Lebanon will be required to quarantine, AFP reported after Berlin on Friday added Lebanon and four other countries to its list of high risk zones.

    • Meanwhile, France announced a similar measure, with its embassy in Beirut saying Saturday that starting from Monday travelers from Lebanon will need to present a negative PCR test to enter France. Unvaccinated travelers will need to quarantine for seven days.

    • Lebanese authorities, for their part, on Saturday evening announced new measures for arrivals at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport that will go into effect on Dec. 25. In one of the new measures, all people over the age of 12 will need to present a negative PCR test from 48-hours or before their arrival.

    • Also, as of Jan. 10 all persons over the age of 12, with the exception of UNIFIL personnel, will be required to take a PCR test, paid for in advance at the cost of $30 dollars, separate from the price of the flight, as was the case prior.
