BEIRUT — Lebanese social media influencer Amani Danhach announced Thursday on her Instagram account (@Ammounz) that a man she described as a supporter of President Michel Aoun had requested the public prosecutor's office to investigate her for “contempt for the Presidency of the Republic.”
Here is what we know:
• According to a post that she published on her account, a man named Jean-Paul Samaha presented this request through his lawyer Odette Njeim accusing Amani Danhach of “contempt for the Presidency of the Republic.”
• Danhach, a Tripolitan living in Dubai since 2010, uses her Instagram account to express her rage against all Lebanese officials in a humorous way. In 2020, supporters of the Free Patriotic Movement were able to cancel her residence permit in the United Arab Emirates following satirical comments she made about Aoun.
