BEIRUT — The Energy Ministry on Wednesday set the price of the kilowatt hour produced by private generators in November at LL6,502, an increase of 25.04 percent compared to the previous month’s price of LL5,200 per kilowatt hour.
Here’s what we know:
• The fee is higher by an additional 10 percent in mountainous regions (over 700 meters above sea level) andi in rural areas, according to the ministry’s decision.
• The November tariff was calculated based on the price of fuel oil which was LL314,386 per 20 liters compared to LL244,755 the previous month, as fuel prices continue to rise due to the devaluation of the lira against the dollar and fuel price increases worldwide.
• The ministry also asked generator owners to abide by the Economy Ministry’s order to install meters to measure energy consumption.
