Three Hezbollah fighters have been killed in the village of Kfar Kila (district of Marjeoun) in southern Lebanon, as exchanges of fire between the Iran-backed group and the Israeli army continue along the Lebanese-Israeli border.

Hussein Ahmed Yahya, Musa Hassan Sheet and Jihad Musa Sheet, who all came from the village of Kfar Kila, were killed on Monday, Hezbollah confirmed - without adding details on where or how they died.

The Lebanese state-run National News Agency says they were killed during the third in a series of violent raids by the Israeli army on the village on Monday. Reuters, citing security sources, said they were killed in an Israeli raid on two houses. The Israeli military said on Monday it struck a series of targets in Lebanon, including "military sites" where Hezbollah was operating.

137 Hezbollah members have now been killed since the start of the fighting on October 8, according to a count by L'Orient-Le Jour.

Multiple villages bombarded in southern Lebanon

Throughout the day there were near-hourly exchanges of fire on both side of southern Lebanon's border with Israel, as the Israel-Hamas war reached its 87th day.

At just after 1pm an Israeli raid targeted the village of Kfar Kila. An hour later a drone launched a missile targeting a house in the area, followed by two additional bombardements by Israeli warplanes later in the afternoon  - a security source confirmed to our southern Lebanon Correspondent, Muntassir Abdallah.

In the afternoon residents of Mays al-Jabal told L'Orient-Le Jour that Israeli army artillery shelling hit the vicinity of Mays al-Jabal Governmental Hospital. A shell reportedly fell in the hospital’s parking lot near the fence, causing shrapnel to fly and reaching inside the emergency department. No medical staff were injured. 

Earlier at 11:00 Israeli artillery shelling hit the outskirts of the villages of Maroun Al-Ras, Jibbayn, Dhayra, Tayr Harfa, Wadi Hamoul, and Majdal Zoun. Later in the afternoon there were raids on Labouneh, Naqoura, Maroun al-Ras and Bint Jbeil, Hula, on Al-Bayad, and the outskirts of Wadi Al-Jamal. By the evening there were reports of Israeli artillery shells falling on the outskirts of the town of Dhayra, Tayr Harfa, Jibbayn, Alma al-Shaab, and the vicinity of Bint Jbeil. 

Responses from Hezbollah and Israel

Hezbollah says at 3pm it targeted the Israeli site of Hadab Al Bustan, and at 5.55pm it hit Israeli enemy soldiers in the vicinity of the Ya’ra barracks  

Haaretz, citing the Israeli army, reports that five reserve soldiers were lightly wounded in northern Isreal by rockets launched from Lebanon, which landed in the area of the Admit community. The army also said its fighter jets targeted a Hezbollah cell and infrastructure in Lebanon. They also confirmed several rockets fell in an open area in the northern city of Kiryat Shmona, and that a "suspicious aerial target" was intercepted.
